French for Travelers - BEGINNER - Part 1 : A1 FT PART 1

These introductory workshops in English teach you simple and useful French expressions to use while traveling in a francophone country.

Workshop Part 1: For Levels A1

Learn essential vocabulary and phrases, then practice with dialogues and listening exercises. Topics will include:

First Steps: At the airport and taking a taxi.

Getting Around: Taking the metro or train; how to ask for help.

Lodging: Checking in; hotel scenarios.

Dining: Menu reading and ordering.

Shopping: Asking for help in a variety of stores; at the farmer’s market; at the flea market.

Emergency: Talking to a doctor or a pharmacist; buying items at the pharmacy.

Finding Your Way: Asking for and understanding directions.

The workshops are standalone — you do not need to take Part 1 before Part 2.

Getting Around: Taking public transportation.

Lodging: Checking in; hotel situations.

Dining: Menu reading, ordering, discussing food and drinks.

Shopping: Asking for help in a variety of stores; shopping etiquette; at the farmer’s market; flea market.

Emergency: Talking to a doctor or a pharmacist; buying items at the pharmacy.

Finding Your Way:  Asking for, understanding and (oui!) giving directions.

The workshops are standalone — you do not need to take Part 1 before Part 2.

Parking Information

Street parking on SW 20th St. facing the Kamm House is limited. Free parking is available in Lot A at SW 18th and SW Columbia. Please obtain a parking pass from the office.

After 6 pm weekdays, students may park in the Willamette Dental lot at SW 20th and SW Jefferson as available.
